Three nights at Rod Laver Arena starting Thursday — the dual GRAMMY winner is the hottest ticket in the country right now.
Melbourne / This week
Worth leaving the house for.
This week Melbourne delivers the full package: Laufey fills Rod Laver Arena across three consecutive nights, Collingwood and Geelong throw down in a finals-flavoured Thursday night clash at the MCG, and Lightscape at the Royal Botanic Gardens takes its final bow on Sunday. Get out while you still can — this is peak winter Melbourne doing what it does best.

Three nights at Rod Laver Arena starting Thursday — the dual GRAMMY winner is the hottest ticket in the country right now.

The award-winning light trail at the Royal Botanic Gardens closes Sunday 2 August — this is literally your last chance all year.

Thursday night under lights at the 'G, with both clubs chasing separation from the mid-ladder logjam at Round 21.
I'd do this.
Last chance for Lightscape, Saturday night
Lightscape closes for 2026 on Sunday 2 August at the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne, South Yarra — a short walk or tram from the CBD, and now even easier via the new ANZAC Station. Timed entry sessions run every 15 minutes from 5:15pm, and the 2.1km trail through lit-up pathways, the 30-metre Winter Cathedral and the Fire Garden is worth every minute. Tickets from $36 adults via the RBG website — book now as last-night sessions will sell out. While you're in the precinct, grab a mulled wine on the trail and plan dinner on Toorak Road afterwards.
Sunday is the last night of Lightscape ever at the Gardens this season — don't sleep on it.
The stuff you'll be annoyed nobody told you.
The good stuff, with a reason.

A short free list this week. Ask me and I will dig up the parks, walks and rooms near you that never make a list.

Book something good.
Andrew McConnell's Côte Basque – Opening This Winter. McConnell's first new Melbourne restaurant since Gimlet is a European grill inspired by the Basque coast, expected to open at 25 Crossley Street this winter — watch Broadsheet for the exact date.
